Our dealerships have taken shape.

1928:
Southern Chevrolet, Inc is founded in Alexandria, Louisiana and deals Chevrolet vehicles.

1945:
Southern Chevrolet adds Cadillac to its dealership.

1978:
John Murphy buys a 40% share in Southern Chevrolet-Cadillac.

1990:
John Murphy relocates Southern Chevrolet-Cadillac to its current and then new facility in Alexandria.

2000:
John Murphy and Lee Owens become partners in the Southern Chevrolet-Cadillac dealership.

2004:
John and Lee purchase British Cars of Little Rock and change its name to Southern Automotive Companies, LLC. Southern Automotive now has a Jaguar and Land Rover dealership in Little Rock and a Chevrolet and Cadillac dealership in Alexandria.

2005:
John and Lee take on a new partner, William B. Owens Jr. (Lee's brother).

2006:
Southern Automotive moves to new location in Little Rock on Colonel Glenn Plaza.

2006:
Southern Automotive adds Lincoln and Mercury to its platform and opens Lincoln Mercury of West Little Rock.

2007:
Grand Opening of Southern Automotive's Little Rock dealership featuring Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar and Land Rover is celebrated.
